about
The Collection's new single “Rain It Down” is a continuation of the narrative surrounding mental health. It's about holding space for each other’s truth, even when the truth might feel heavy, so that those around us can be honest and vulnerable about who they are, what they’re going through, and live freely. When my heart starts anticipating a majorly needed change in my life - a breakup, a move, a job - it can take a long time to express it. Fear and anxiety take over, worrying that my needs will hurt others or leave them feeling abandoned. It becomes easy to be closed off and put up walls. But often, expressing my truth, breaking the dam, and releasing the flood brings such an intense sense of relief.
lyrics
It’s been a hundred miles in the quiet
And I am drowning in the white noise
You’ve got so cheap a smile, I won’t buy it
But now your eyes are lost to the void
If you’ve got something to say, then just say it
Or will you run it into the ground?
I know that peace is a moving target
But aren’t you tired of sitting around and around?
Now
Rain it down, I don’t mind a waterfall
Rain it out, I don’t mind a flood
Baby, there’s no sound coming from behind the wall
Break it down, break it down
I wanna know you well
I wanna know you well
You know I’m getting good at beginnings
And I can see the end on your tongue
You said “the skin is no longer fitting"
It’s shaped so different than what we’ve become
You sound so brave when you finally say it
And you were shaking out of control
I feel the pain coming closer and waving
But it won’t heal till we finally let go
So you know
Rain it down, I don’t mind a waterfall
Rain it out, I don’t mind a flood
Baby, there’s no sound coming from behind the wall
Break it down, break it down
I wanna know you well
And oh, don’t you find?
Don’t you find that the lights are beautiful
With our eyes open wide
And oh, don’t you know?
Don’t you know we were never in control
Just a drop in the flow
Rain it down, I don’t mind a waterfall
Rain it out, I don’t mind a flood
Baby, there’s no sound coming from behind the wall
Break it down, break it down
I wanna know you well
Rain it down, I don’t mind a waterfall
Rain it out, I don’t mind a flood
Baby, there’s no sound coming from behind the wall
Break it down, break it down
I wanna know you well
